Rectangle area = length * width
18x^2-42x=6x*width
Width = (18x^2-42x)/6x
Width = 3x-7

Let’s make sure
Area = length * width
Area = 6x * (3x-7)
Area = 18x^2 -42x which is true
That mean width = 3x-7
