All the question is asking is basically just to combine like terms.
The like terms are (-2.9a and 4.4a) and (6.8 and -7.3).
-2.9a + 4.4a = 1.5a
6.8 + (-7.3) = 6.8 - 7.3 = -0.5
This means the result of adding the two expressions is 1.5a - 0.5.
